Activity 1: Open House Participation

Activity 2: Pattern Design

Criteria 1-4 and 7-12 listed below are worth 5%, criteria 5&6 are worth 10% for a total of 70%

 

Activity 3: Blog Submission(s)

One submission to one of DeBlogs - 30%

A bonus 10% will be awarded for submitting to both blogs.

 

Pattern Design Criteria

The Patterns Team is encouraging each team to submit their pattern design to the E-LEN Pattern Repository in order to contribute to the development of patterns for networked learning. Therefore, the criteria for grading your patterns is based on the E-LEN PatTern Structure.

1. Name:

Give a name that:

• covers the content (problem and solution)

• is meaningful and easy to remember

• gives rise to associations that are related to the described problem and solution.

2. Category:

Choose from: pedagogical/organizational/technical. Combinations are possible.

3. Abstract:

A short paragraph outlining key elements in the pattern.

4. Problem:

A detailed description of the problem.

5. Analysis:

An explanation of what makes this problem a problem, and why a solution is needed.

6. Known solutions:

This section should set out what constitutes a ‘good practice’ solution to the problem. It can be based on

existing practice, or drawn from theory.

7. Research questions:

A description of any research questions that are still to be solved, and ideas about possible research

settings and methods. Other remarks.

8. Context:

A description of the type of context the solution is applicable to.

9. Conditions:

A general description of critical success indicators/factors that influence use/implementation of the

solution (e.g. required roles, type of resources), resources needed to solve the problem.

10. Discussion/consequences:

The consequences of use, implementation issues and other remarks.

11.References:

References for the pattern.

12. Related patterns:

Related design patterns and research patterns
